Construction – Structural Maintenance Bridge & Building Helper/Driver

About the role

Join BNSF Railway’s Construction – Structural Maintenance Bridge and Building team in Lafayette, LA. You will help construct, inspect, and maintain railroad bridges, tunnels, culverts and related structures, ensuring safety and reliability for the nation’s freight network.

Key responsibilities

• Perform construction, maintenance, and repair of bridges, tunnels, culverts, timber bridges, trestles, and structural steel members.
• Place and finish concrete surfaces and carry out conventional carpentry work.
• Read blueprints to determine material requirements, dimensions, and layout.
• Assemble, cut, shape, and fasten materials; rig materials for hoisting and operate company vehicles as directed.
• Travel to job sites for extended periods and work on‑call, overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Required profile

• Willingness to travel and stay on job sites for days or weeks.
• Ability to work safely in extreme weather and on uneven surfaces.
• Availability for on‑call, overtime, night, weekend and holiday shifts.
• Commitment to follow safety regulations and wear required protective equipment.
