Construction Inspector I

About the role

The City of Fort Worth Water Department’s Capital Delivery Division seeks a detail‑oriented Construction Inspector I to ensure quality and integrity of water and wastewater infrastructure. The role involves field inspections, documentation, and collaboration with design and GIS staff to support essential community services.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor assigned construction projects, maintain daily records, and prepare partial and final contractor payment estimates.
• Collect and deliver potable water samples for bacteriological testing to verify water quality and safety.
• Provide coverage and support across multiple construction sites, collaborating with the inspection team.
• Partner with in‑house design and GIS staff to document locations of underground bends, valves, and other appurtenances during installation.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Class “C” driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain a Texas Class D Water Distribution certification within one year of employment.
• Pass the City of Fort Worth Human Performance Evaluation and a drug screen.
• Preferred: Completion of relevant TCEQ training courses and availability for overtime and call‑backs.
