Construction Resident Engineer – Bridge Replacement

About the role

Prudent Engineering is seeking a Construction Resident Engineer to oversee bridge replacement projects in the Rochester, NY area. The role starts immediately and involves supervising inspection staff, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications, and coordinating directly with contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor contractor performance and conduct daily field inspections.
• Maintain daily diary reports, track quantities, and process contractor payment applications.
• Coordinate materials testing, verification, and inspection procedures.
• Communicate project status regularly with client representatives.

Required profile

• NICET Level IV certification or equivalent experience.
• At least 10 years of field inspection experience, preferably with NY State DOT or Thruway Authority.
• PE certification preferred, Bachelor’s in civil engineering or related field.
• OSHA 10 certification, valid driver’s license, and ability to travel within Onondaga County.

Required skills

• Computer‑aided project administration software proficiency.
• Strong knowledge of construction site safety practices.
