Construction Project Estimator - MEP Infrastructure

About the role

HEAPY Solutions is looking for a Construction Project Estimator to support complex MEP infrastructure projects in its established markets. The role suits someone with extensive construction estimating experience who enjoys analyzing project scopes, developing accurate cost estimates and collaborating with project teams from concept through construction. The position is based in Dayton.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed and rough order of magnitude (ROM) cost estimates for MEP infrastructure projects, covering labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors and general trades.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, studies, site visit information and scope documents to prepare accurate, competitive estimates.
• Work with project managers, engineers, contractors and vendors to reflect project goals, risks and execution strategies.
• Support bid and proposal preparation, value engineering, cost forecasting, budgeting and change order pricing.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, evaluate their proposals and keep accurate estimating records and cost databases.
• Prepare reports and cost analyses for project teams, operations leadership and clients, and stay current on industry trends and MEP technologies.
• Occasional travel to project sites in the Indianapolis and Central Indiana region.

Required profile

• Normally 10+ years of experience in MEP construction estimating or related cost management roles, with commercial, industrial and healthcare projects; equivalent experience considered.
• Experience with large, complex projects valued at $5 million or more, and with MEP upgrades, replacements, renovations or modernizations.
• Healthcare market experience strongly preferred.
• OSHA safety training or certification required, or ability to obtain it within two years.
• Reliable transportation and ability to work in all weather conditions and on site.

Required skills

• Estimating software and construction management platforms such as Bluebeam, Procore or Trimble.
• Reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Budgets, cost forecasts, bid proposals and change order pricing.
• Strong analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
