Construction Manager – Large Capital Projects (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking a Construction Manager Staff to join BASF’s Global Engineering team, supporting large‑scale capital projects in the chemical and petrochemical sector. The role is based in Houston (with options in Geismar, LA or Freeport, TX) and operates in a hybrid work model, requiring up to 75 % travel to project sites.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily construction, commissioning and start‑up activities for large capital projects, ensuring safety, quality, schedule and cost targets are met.
• Manage construction contractors, develop construction logistics, sequencing and site plans, and monitor productivity.
• Implement and enforce the Construction EHS Plan, proactively addressing safety risks and potential disputes.
• Review and authorize field changes to control additional costs.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align scope, budget and schedule throughout execution.
• Utilize digital tools to improve construction efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• 10 + years of construction experience on large petrochemical or oil‑and‑gas processing facilities.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage contractor performance.
• Strategic mindset to mitigate risks, solve technical challenges and deliver value.
