Configuration Management Lead

About the role

Amentum's Intel and Cyber Division, supporting DISA, is looking for a Configuration Management Lead to join its team at Fort Meade, MD. The role leads the establishment and maintenance of robust baselines in hybrid environments (physical hardware, virtualized infrastructure, cloud assets and software pipelines) and works on mission-critical projects affecting national security and intelligence. The schedule is 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Keep configuration baselines intact, available and reliable across hybrid environments.
• Manage the CMDB in ServiceNow and ticketing workflows in Jira/Confluence, mapping system dependencies.
• Define and enforce Configuration Management Plans, policies and procedures aligned with ITIL, IEEE standards and organizational mandates.
• Run change management processes, lead Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) and schedule Authorized Service Interruptions (ASIs).
• Ensure compliance with NIST SP 800-53, DISA STIGs and DoD IL5 through continuous auditing and vulnerability remediation.
• Track and report metrics, database health, audit findings and SLA compliance to program leadership.
• Organize Physical and Functional Configuration Audits (PCAs/FCAs) and lead readiness reviews, producing Configuration Item Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Work with project managers and systems engineers to bring new systems and releases into the operational baseline, and run trend analysis on configuration drift.
• Establish RACI matrices, train staff on baseline procedures and manage incident response for configuration issues.

Required profile

• 15 years in IT lifecycle management, systems engineering or quality assurance, with 7 years in a dedicated Configuration Management role, including 3 years as a technical lead or manager.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering or a related field (equivalent experience may count).
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Ability to work in a SCIF daily and travel up to 10%; support for non-standard hours during maintenance windows and deployment surges.

Required skills

• ServiceNow CMDB and Jira/Confluence for change management.
• Hands-on configuration auditing (PCAs/FCAs), baseline verification and drift detection.
• ITIL, NIST SP 800-53, IEEE standards and DISA STIGs; Agile (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Preferred certifications: ITIL 4 Expert, NDIA CDM or CMPIC, CISSP, ServiceNow CSA/CIS.
