Compliance Engineer - Fire Suppression Products

About the role

Amerex, a global leader in fire suppression products owned by McWane, Inc., is hiring a full-time Compliance Engineer in Trussville. The engineer ensures that products meet the standards and regulations of the fire suppression market in every region where Amerex sells them.

Key responsibilities

• Work cross-functionally with Sales, Trade Compliance, Quality, Product Management, Procurement and Product Development to resolve compliance issues and customer requests.
• Research and understand the product compliance requirements for fire suppression products.
• Work with regulatory agencies such as UL and FM on product approvals, compliance and listings.
• Create technical documents and instruction literature as needed.
• Review and approve product design changes for adherence to compliance standards.
• Schedule and support audits and site visits by regulatory agencies.
• Provide certification documentation to the sales team and customers as requested.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Materials or Fire Protection Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Ability to handle a dynamic workload, from multitasking to focused detail-oriented work on critical projects.
• Willingness to help with other engineering team projects as needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
• Knowledge of Autodesk, SolidWorks or other CAD software.
• Excellent communication, time management, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.

The role is based in a professional office and may involve exposure to moderate noise, and occasional work with hazardous materials and environmental changes (heat/cold) during R&D. Physical demands include occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
