Community Service Work‑Study – Marketing & Outreach Intern

About the role

The Community Work‑Study intern will support the Imaginarium of South Texas by creating marketing materials, managing social media, and assisting with events and community outreach. This part‑time position offers hands‑on experience in communications while serving children and families.

Key responsibilities

• Create and schedule engaging content for Facebook, Instagram and other digital platforms.
• Assist with marketing campaigns for museum events, field trips, camps, birthday parties and fundraisers.
• Design flyers, graphics, email announcements and other promotional materials.
• Capture photos and short videos during events for marketing and outreach.
• Update website content, newsletters, calendars and event listings.
• Support community outreach by promoting partnerships, sponsorships and local collaborations.
• Track social media engagement and campaign performance.
• Maintain organized marketing files, photo libraries and promotional calendars.

Required profile

• Enrolled at least half‑time at Texas A&M International University.
• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 (undergraduate) or 3.0 (graduate).
• Demonstrate financial need via FAFSA and have a complete financial‑aid file.
• U.S. citizen, permanent resident or eligible non‑citizen.
• Reliable transportation and ability to work evenings/weekends as needed.

Required skills

• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Experience creating or managing content for social media platforms.
• Basic graphic design using Canva, Adobe Express or similar tools.
• Ability to take quality photos and videos with a phone or camera.
• Organizational skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
