Community Service Specialist – Campus Safety & Parking

About the role

The Community Service Specialist supports the mission of Fresno State University by providing safety, parking, and customer‑service functions across campus. Working under the Parking & Transportation Manager and senior specialists, the incumbent helps maintain a secure environment and smooth traffic flow for students, staff, and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Security Services: patrol campus on foot, bike or vehicle, respond to hazards such as fire, theft, vandalism, and trespassing; secure facilities and test alarm systems.
• Parking Support: issue and sell parking permits, patrol lots, issue citations for violations, direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic during peak periods, special events and emergencies, and assist with revenue processing and alternative transportation programs.
• Campus Community Support: assist with logistics for special events and emergencies, provide information and customer service, operate the Parking Customer Service Office, escort citizens, and transport persons with disabilities.

Required profile

• Working knowledge of university policies and public‑safety communications.
• Ability to learn and operate public‑safety equipment and systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
