Communications Specialist – Community Relations & Engagement

About the role

The District Office is seeking a Communications Specialist to support the Community Relations and Engagement Department. This full‑time, onsite position works Monday‑Friday, 9 am‑6 pm, and offers full benefits or cash compensation in lieu of benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement communication strategies that promote district initiatives and community engagement.
• Coordinate media production activities, including creating videos, graphics, and written content.
• Maintain relationships with local media outlets and community partners.
• Prepare and distribute press releases, newsletters, and other public‑facing materials.
• Ensure all communications comply with district policies and standards.

Required profile

• High School Diploma (U.S. Department of Education accredited) plus two years of college coursework in public relations, communications, or a related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in public relations, communications, or a related area.
• One signed letter of recommendation and a current resume.
• Typing certificate demonstrating 50 net words per minute (certificate no older than two years).
• Proof of high‑school completion upon selection.

Required skills

• Typing speed of at least 50 net WPM, verified by an accepted testing center.
• Media production skills (video, audio, graphic creation).
