Communications Director

About the role

The City of Branson is looking for an experienced Communications Director to serve as the primary public information professional. This senior leader will ensure accurate, timely, and consistent messaging to residents, businesses, visitors, media, and community partners.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the City’s spokesperson and senior communications advisor.
• Develop, write, review, and coordinate press releases, public statements, speeches, talking points, and crisis communications.
• Lead citywide strategic communication plans, public information campaigns, and community‑engagement initiatives.
• Collaborate with executive leadership, department heads, media outlets, community organizations, and business partners.
• Oversee all City communications, monitor news and social media, and respond to community feedback.
• Manage communications‑related projects, signature events, budgets, and departmental operations.

Required profile

• Executive‑level experience leading strategic communications, preferably in a public‑sector organization.
• Strong background in leadership, marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
• Knowledge of Branson’s tourism industry and regional context.
• Proven experience handling crisis communications for public entities.
• Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with governmental agencies, tourism organizations, and regional partners.
