Communication Services Telecommunication Operator

About the role

The Communication Services Telecommunication Operator provides rapid and accurate handling of all telecommunications needs for Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital. This includes answering emergency calls, routing inquiries, and supporting security and clinical staff.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, record, and respond to all incoming phone calls, including emergency, medical, and crisis calls.
• Operate the Nortel console and page system, dispatch security personnel, and activate emergency code pagers as needed.
• Place and record local, long‑distance, and international calls for physicians and clinic staff.
• Provide paging services, assist with on‑call schedules, and ensure HIPAA‑compliant handling of patient information.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in a medical/hospital environment or call center, preferably with switchboard duties.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and occasional weekday coverage.
• Live within commuting distance to Weston Hospital for on‑site training and emergencies.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Nortel telephone console.
• Knowledge of CRT/PC operation and fax machine use.
• Clear, concise speaking voice for professional communication.
