Commercial Refrigeration Trainer (CO2 R744)

About the role

The Refrigeration CO2 (R744) In-House Trainer develops, delivers and continuously improves technical training for commercial refrigeration professionals working on CO2 transcritical systems. The role sits within Field Operations in Charlotte, NC, reports to the Field Operations Leader and involves 30-50% travel depending on business needs. It works with Field Operations, Technical Support, Engineering, Controls and EHS to standardize training, best practices and performance expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deliver instructor-led, hands-on and blended training for CO2 refrigeration systems
• Build structured training paths (Foundations, Intermediate, Advanced) for technicians, commissioning engineers, controls specialists and field leadership
• Create course materials such as lesson plans, slides, lab exercises, simulations, job aids, assessments and certification requirements
• Coach and mentor technicians during system start-ups, commissioning and complex service events
• Standardize commissioning procedures, troubleshooting workflows, SOPs, checklists and documentation across regions
• Turn recurring field issues and root cause findings into training content with Technical Support
• Work with Engineering and Controls on current designs, sequences of operation, firmware and best practices
• Partner with EHS on CO2 safety, high-pressure protocols and regulatory compliance
• Track completion and certification via LMS or internal tools and evaluate effectiveness against field performance, feedback, callbacks and safety data

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on commercial refrigeration experience
• At least 2 years commissioning and servicing CO2 (R744) transcritical systems
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex system and controls issues
• Demonstrated experience training, mentoring or leading technicians
• Bilingual English and Spanish (professional working proficiency in Spanish preferred)
• Able to work safely in mechanical rooms, rooftops and active construction sites; lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders and use refrigeration tools

• Troubleshooting, leak detection, evacuation, charging, optimization, commissioning reports, RCA and corrective action tracking
• Proficiency with digital collaboration tools and learning platforms (e.g. MS Teams, SharePoint, LMS)
• Preferred: adult learning, instructional design, advanced CO2 experience, familiarity with control platforms (Carel, Danfoss, CPC, Emerson), OSHA 10/30 or manufacturer certifications
