Commercial Lines Renewal Underwriter II (Hybrid)

About the role

Join a high‑performing Commercial Lines underwriting team at MAPFRE, responsible for driving profitable growth, retention, and agency success through renewal underwriting.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage renewal business for assigned agency partners, evaluating, pricing, servicing and retaining accounts.
• Analyze risks using established authority levels, guidelines and underwriting philosophies to ensure sound risk selection.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with agency partners, providing product expertise and marketing the company’s capabilities.
• Prepare and interpret Agency Analysis Reports to assess profitability, trends and composition of agency books.
• Deliver renewal quotes and proposal packages professionally and within service standards.
• Travel to agency partners as needed to strengthen relationships and support business objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional knowledge; 2‑4 years of related underwriting experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Prior experience as a Commercial Lines Underwriter I or equivalent underwriting professional.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound business judgment and make effective underwriting decisions.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence agency partners and internal stakeholders.
• Proven sales, relationship management and negotiation skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, time‑management and organizational abilities.
