Commercial Banking Community Development Finance Relationship Manager

About the role

Santander is seeking a Commercial Banking Community Development Finance Relationship Manager to lead the sales, service and retention of complex community development investment customers under its Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) program. The role combines portfolio management, investment analysis and community outreach to drive CRA objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Generate new business and manage an assigned portfolio of commercial customers for community development investments.
• Develop and oversee complex accounts that meet the bank’s investment criteria while maximizing profitability and minimizing risk.
• Lead due‑diligence processes, conduct financial analysis and collaborate with credit professionals to produce credit memos for new investments.
• Represent Santander at civic and community events to enhance brand visibility and expand business opportunities.
• Advise local management on CRA strategies, action plans and performance metrics.
• Drive the development and execution of the CRA strategy to meet regulatory goals.
• Manage regulatory reviews and ensure compliance with CRA requirements.
• Build and maintain relationships with community‑based organizations, political leaders, state agencies and advocacy groups.
• Review, recommend and refer complex community development loans and alternative investments.
• Prepare and communicate periodic self‑assessments of CRA performance to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of the Community Reinvestment Act and related regulatory frameworks.
• Proven experience managing community development investment portfolios, including Low‑Income Housing Tax Credits, New Market Tax Credits and related alternative investments.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough due‑diligence and financial analysis.
• Experience building relationships with community organizations, government agencies and political stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for internal and external audiences.
