Clinical Pharmacist – Veterans Health Administration

About the role

The Veterans Health Administration is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to join its healthcare team. This position supports patient care by ensuring safe, effective medication use and participates in the Education Debt Reduction Program for eligible candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and assess drug therapy outcomes for patients.
• Provide medication counseling and education to patients and healthcare staff.
• Ensure compliance with federal laws, regulations, and accreditation standards governing drug distribution and pharmacy security.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize pharmacotherapy.
• Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship (or meet non‑citizen appointment criteria).
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Graduation from an ACPE‑accredited pharmacy program (Pharm.D. preferred; BS Pharmacy acceptable).
• Active pharmacy licensure or eligibility for licensure.
• For GS‑12 level: either one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade or completion of a Pharm.D. program.

Required skills

• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff.
• Understanding of drug distribution, controlled substance regulations, and pharmacy security.
• Skill in monitoring and evaluating medication therapy outcomes.
