Clinical Pharmacist PRN - Las Vegas

About the role

UnitedHealth Group's CPS, part of the Optum family, is hiring a per-diem, nonexempt Staff Pharmacist in Las Vegas, Nevada. The role covers PIC and/or staff pharmacist positions across five Emerus micro-hospital sites (Blue Diamond, North Durango, North Las Vegas, Sahara and West Flamingo) and focuses on accurate medication orders and controlled substances. Pharmacy hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.

Key responsibilities

• Review, verify and dispense medication orders to ensure appropriateness, safety and accuracy
• Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and care teams to optimize medication regimens for hospitalized patients
• Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety, identifying and preventing adverse drug events
• Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, including DNV, state and federal requirements
• Mentor new staff, maintain daily operations and support the Director in optimizing pharmacy performance

Required profile

• BA/BS degree from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy school
• Active unrestricted pharmacist license for the state of Nevada
• Willingness to travel up to 50% between the five Las Vegas sites
• Preferred: PharmD and 1+ years of recent acute care inpatient pharmacist experience

Required skills

• Proficiency with pharmacy systems and Microsoft Office
• Preferred: comfort using Epic and Omnicell
