Clinical Laboratory Assistant 3 – Full‑time (UHealth Labs)

About the role

The University of Miami’s UHealth Laboratories is seeking a full‑time Clinical Laboratory Assistant 3 to support both clinical and research operations in Miami, FL. The incumbent will work closely with technical and professional staff to ensure timely processing of patient specimens and accurate documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, accession, and transport patient samples for testing.
• Perform specimen processing tasks such as centrifugation, aliquoting, and volume measurement.
• Maintain laboratory logs, files, and inventory levels in accordance with protocols.
• Generate and forward patient reports to appropriate departments or physicians.
• Respond to inquiries from reference labs, physicians, and patient units regarding specimen requirements.
• Serve as lead or backup for the supervisor when needed.
• Adhere to confidentiality regulations and university policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Minimum four years of experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting.
• Applicable certifications as required by the department.
• Strong learning agility and ability to adapt to new procedures.

Required skills

• Specimen processing, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and volume measurement.
• Inventory management and stock rotation.
• Proficiency with office software and laboratory information systems.
