About the role

The University of Miami Health System is seeking a full‑time Clinical Laboratory Assistant 2 to support routine operations in the Pathology Department at the UHealth Laboratories UTower Hospital. The role provides essential assistance to technical and professional staff in both clinical and research laboratories.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, accession, and transport patient specimens for laboratory testing.
• Process specimens including centrifugation, aliquoting, and volume measurement.
• Maintain accurate laboratory files, logs, and inventory levels.
• Assist with case distribution, slide and block preparation, and filing systems.
• Support equipment upkeep by changing paper, labels, and printer ribbons.
• Participate in departmental performance‑improvement initiatives.
• Ensure confidentiality of patient information in compliance with federal and state regulations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Strong data‑entry accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Specimen processing (centrifugation, aliquoting, volume measurement).
• Data entry with minimal errors.
