Clinical Assistant Professor – Office of Clinical Experiences

About the role

The Office of Clinical Experiences at Texas A&M University‑San Antonio seeks a full‑time Clinical Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2026. This faculty position supports teacher‑certification students by linking university programs with K‑12 school districts and overseeing field‑based experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Act as liaison between the Office of Clinical Experiences and partner school districts.
• Coordinate field placements for teacher‑certification candidates and screen applications for program admission.
• Review and approve requests for Field‑Based Experience, Clinical Teaching, and Enhanced Year‑long Residency.
• Observe students in classroom settings, provide feedback on lesson plans and instructional practice, and conduct appraisal meetings.
• Facilitate professional development activities and support candidates in preparing for the TExES exams.
• Serve as Field Supervisor across multiple certification areas, addressing challenges and ensuring successful remediation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate and Texas Principal certificate.
• Minimum five years in a supervisory role and eight years as a classroom teacher or administrator.
• Strong knowledge of current teaching strategies and ability to travel to multiple school sites.
