Clinic Assistant – Patient Care & Administrative Support

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Neurological Surgery is seeking a Clinic Assistant to support patient care operations in Miami, FL. This role combines clerical duties with direct interaction with patients and clinical staff to ensure smooth clinic workflow.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, complete, and process patient charts while maintaining accurate records.
• Transcribe physicians' orders, verify chart completeness, and flag issues for correction.
• Order and manage unit supplies, receive and distribute materials, and track inventory.
• Obtain laboratory and radiology reports, notify physicians of results, and use IDX RIS/PACS to monitor patient arrivals.
• Greet patients, verify information, and guide them to appropriate areas.
• Answer the main telephone line, triage calls, document messages, and provide exceptional customer service.
• Perform general administrative tasks such as uploading radiology reports, handling visitation logs, and maintaining a tidy reception area.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, physicians, and staff.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Willingness to provide cross‑coverage and assist teammates as needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency with IDX RIS/PACS systems.
