Claims Examiner, Auto - Bodily Injury

About the role

Sedgwick is hiring a Claims Examiner, Auto (Bodily Injury) to analyze and process complex bodily injury auto and commercial transportation claims. The role covers reviewing coverage, investigating liability, determining liability and evaluating the scope of damages, with the aim of resolving claims on time within service expectations, industry best practice and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and process complex auto commercial and personal line claims, including bodily injury, and ensure claim files are properly documented and coded.
• Handle the litigation process on litigated claims.
• Coordinate vendor management, including the use of independent adjusters to help investigate claims.
• Report large claims to excess carriers.
• Develop and maintain action plans so state-mandated contact deadlines are met and files move toward prompt resolution.
• Pursue subrogation and risk transfer opportunities and handle salvage.
• Communicate claim actions with insureds, clients and agents or brokers when appropriate.
• Support the organization's quality programs, travel as required, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Five years of claims management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including in-depth knowledge of personal and commercial line auto policies, coverages, principles and laws.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Professional certification for the line of business preferred.
• Ability to secure and maintain the state adjusting license required for the position.
