Per Diem General Liability Adjuster

About the role

Sedgwick is hiring a per diem General Liability Adjuster to handle complex, technically challenging claims on automobile, homeowner and excess liability policies. The adjuster resolves claims with complex coverage, liability, damages and legal issues while delivering an exceptional customer experience. The position is listed as telecommuter in Texas.

Key responsibilities

• Adjust claims arising on automobile, homeowner and excess liability policies.
• Evaluate injury claims based on damages, the insurance contract, company policies and applicable state laws.
• Investigate coverage, liability and damages in claims involving serious and catastrophic injuries and other legal issues.
• Ensure timely referral of suits to counsel, evaluate exposure changes during discovery and manage defense counsel in complex litigation and coverage disputes.
• Formulate plans to resolve claims while minimizing indemnity and expense leakage.
• Draft coverage letters including reservations of rights and coverage denials, and maintain proper reserves on pending claims.
• Travel as required and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• State-mandated adjusting licenses as required; CPCU, AIC or ARM preferred.
• Eight years of related experience, including personal lines claims, coverage evaluation and drafting coverage letters; commercial lines claims and multi-state litigation experience preferred.

Required skills

• Knowledge of tort theories, legal concepts, negotiation strategies and litigation management.
• Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
• Microsoft Office and PC literacy.
• Analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills, and strong negotiation abilities.
• Ability to write comprehensive, accurate reports and work in a team.
