Civil Project Engineer – Transportation

About the role

Volkert is seeking an experienced Civil Project Engineer specialized in transportation to join its Southwest Region team in Texas. You will lead geometric design projects for TXDOT and local governments, ensuring high‑quality deliverables from concept through construction.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental studies, and design documents.
• Evaluate design changes, recommend solutions, and ensure constructability with field personnel.
• Use engineering and design software to produce accurate project documentation.
• Maintain QA/QC standards as defined in the company quality manual.
• Submit documents to federal, state, and local agencies for code compliance and obtain necessary permits.

Required profile

• B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• 4+ years of relevant transportation design experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening and hold a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle report.
