Civil Engineer – Transportation Project Engineer

About the role

PND Engineers, Inc. is looking for a licensed Civil Engineer to lead transportation and civil infrastructure projects across Alaska. The role involves delivering projects from early engineering and field reconnaissance through design, bidding and construction support, working with both public and private clients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead surface‑transportation projects, managing all phases from preliminary engineering to final design and advertising.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, geotechnical, environmental, survey, traffic, and construction personnel.
• Prepare and review engineering deliverables such as plans, specifications, estimates, calculations and design reports.
• Support construction administration, inspections and client coordination.
• Mentor junior engineers, EITs and designers.
• Travel within Alaska for site visits and progress inspections (travel <10%).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• Professional Civil Engineer registration in Alaska or ability to obtain it within 6 months.
• Minimum 5 years of civil engineering experience, preferably in transportation, roadway or highway design.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Ability to work effectively in team environments and manage client relationships.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Familiarity with engineering software applications for design and analysis.
