Civil Engineer – Public Works & Capital Projects

About the role

Bureau Veritas, a world leader in testing, inspection and certification services, is seeking a Civil Engineer to manage the engineering and construction of civil infrastructure projects in Miami, Florida. The role involves coordinating and supervising work on water mains, wastewater, stormwater, sanitary sewers, traffic and related engineering projects.

Key responsibilities

• Review Design‑Build contractor plans and specifications for RFP compliance, constructability and technical correctness.
• Coordinate engineering consultants, recommend changes, approve plans and specifications, negotiate change orders and review payments.
• Prepare and evaluate Statements of Qualifications (RFQs/SOQs) for professional engineering, construction inspection, management and materials testing services.
• Analyze construction contract bids, attend pre‑bid, pre‑construction and construction meetings, and make recommendations on award decisions.
• Monitor construction contracts and professional services agreements to ensure compliance and process invoices for completed work.

Required profile

• Florida Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum four (4) years of practical engineering experience, including at least two (2) years in civil engineering.
• Strong knowledge of civil engineering practices for water, wastewater, stormwater, roadway, bridge design and floodplain management.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
