About the role
The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking dedicated Child Care Teachers (levels I, II, and III) to join its Head Start and Early Head Start program. In this role you will provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for young children while supporting families and meeting federal Head Start standards.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver age‑appropriate curriculum that promotes cognitive, social, and emotional development.
- Supervise children daily, ensuring health, safety, and well‑being.
- Maintain accurate attendance, health, and progress records in compliance with program regulations.
- Collaborate with families, providing regular communication about child progress and program activities.
- Implement health and safety policies, including nutrition, hygiene, and emergency procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Required profile
- Degree or certification in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
- Valid state child‑care license or equivalent credential.
- Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool‑age children, preferably in a Head Start setting.
- Ability to work with diverse families and demonstrate cultural competence.
- Clear background check and proof of legal work authorization in the United States.
Required skills
- Classroom management and behavior guidance techniques.
- Curriculum planning aligned with Early Head Start standards.
- Strong knowledge of child development milestones.
- Effective communication and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in health and safety procedures for early childhood settings.
