Child Care Consultant – Southwest Region

About the role

The State of Georgia seeks a field‑based Child Care Consultant for the Southwest Region, primarily serving Bibb County. The role involves traveling throughout the region to ensure compliance with licensing standards and to support early‑care providers. Candidates must reside in or near the assigned territory and be prepared for statewide travel.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional consultation to child‑care facilities and applicants on program operations, staff development and quality improvement.
• Interpret licensing statutes and administrative rules, conduct compliance reviews and issue citations with timelines for corrective action.
• Perform preliminary fire safety and environmental health inspections and incorporate findings into licensing reports.
• Travel throughout the Southwest Region, primarily Bibb County, using a personal vehicle to meet scheduled appointments.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least two years of related experience.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license and ability to travel extensively within the region.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 30 lb and perform inspections.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and/or related field.
