Child Care Area Director

About the role

BrightPath Kids, part of the Busy Bees global childcare community, is hiring a full-time Child Care Area Director in Chicago, IL. The Area Director works alongside teachers, children and families to run several child care centers and manage their directors, ensuring operations meet BrightPath standards.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit and develop staff, manage policies and procedures, and oversee child safety, environmental health and hygiene, NAEYC accreditation standards, state licensing and internal policies.
• Address parent complaints about education and classroom programs, and recommend and initiate classroom reorganization, including opening and closing rooms and programs.
• Directly supervise assigned Center Directors, overseeing their daily responsibilities, training, management style, staff supervision and facility oversight.
• Ensure centers comply with state, safety, fire, quality educational programming and staffing regulations.
• Assess the appearance of sites, including equipment, furniture, cleanliness, bathrooms, playgrounds and landscaping.
• Implement the crisis management plan in the event of accidents, disasters or pandemics.
• Review customer and staff survey summaries and set and carry out action plans for improvement.
• Train administration and staff on new policies so they are followed consistently.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
• 5+ years of childcare or teaching experience.
• 3+ years of management experience.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to supervise others; must be able to work independently.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, ability to multitask and stay organized.
• Ability to work within regular operating hours and meet state criteria for childcare employment.
