Chief Medical Resident - Medicine

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a Chief Medical Resident to lead the internal medicine residency program. This senior resident will oversee clinical schedules, educational activities, and serve as a liaison between trainees and faculty throughout the academic year.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain resident rotation schedules for ward and elective services at JMH/UMH.
• Orient new residents at the start of each rotation and collect ongoing feedback on training.
• Participate in Education, Clinical Competence, Selection, and Recruitment committees.
• Supervise attendance and professionalism for a designated portfolio of residents.
• Manage on‑site morning duties, after‑hours coverage, and beeper responsibilities.
• Coordinate core curriculum conferences, emergency lecture series, patient safety case reviews, journal clubs, and morning reports.
• Lead subspecialty morning reports, chief rounds, RSAP presentations, board review sessions, and grand rounds.
• Precept medical students at the bedside and facilitate unit director and intern academic rounds.

Required profile

• Current resident physician in internal medicine with strong clinical competence.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to supervise peers.
• Experience in organizing educational conferences and resident schedules.
• Active participation in residency committees and recruitment processes.
