Chief Engineer - Maritime

About the role

Zeno Power is developing nuclear battery technology for frontier environments and seeks a senior leader to drive the design, development, and production of maritime radioisotope power systems.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Design Authority for the maritime scope, leading technical decisions and ensuring design compliance.
• Lead planning, scheduling, and execution of maritime system design reviews, change control and verification activities.
• Develop and maintain quality procedures and work instructions under the AS9100 program.
• Interface with suppliers, customers, regulators and internal teams to manage requirements, risk and integration.
• Prepare technical briefings, papers and reports for leadership, customers and conferences.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Marine, Naval Architecture, Nuclear, Systems, Electrical, Aerospace or related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in complex product development, with 5+ years in maritime vessel design or marine systems.
• 3+ years in a technical leadership or chief engineer role overseeing multidisciplinary teams.
• Proven experience in regulated environments (ISO 9001, AS9100, NQA‑1, NAVSEA) and risk‑informed decision making.

Required skills

• AS9100, ISO 9001, NQA‑1, NAVSEA compliance.
• Systems engineering, requirements management, interface control, hazard analysis, reliability and maintainability.
• Configuration management and product lifecycle processes.
• Risk analysis, trade studies, root‑cause analysis, failure investigation.
