Certified Welding Inspector (AWS) – Olean, NY

About the role

The inspector oversees the fabrication facility's quality assurance on behalf of Bureau Veritas's client and conducts on‑site inspections during the construction phase. The role requires strong knowledge of American Welding Society (AWS) codes and proven experience in a similar inspection position.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with the Project Manager to define work order scope, deliverables, schedule and budget.
• Coordinate with fabrication shops, contractors and third parties to resolve scheduling issues.
• Ensure services are performed in line with project requirements and client contracts.
• Generate and submit timesheets, billing and inspection reports promptly using Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat.
• Maintain positive relationships between Bureau Veritas, the fabrication facility and the client.
• Work remotely from Bureau Veritas offices while performing on‑site inspections as needed.

Required profile

• Certified Welding Inspector (American Welding Society).
• Additional certifications such as D1.5 Bridge Inspection, NDT Level II, or AMPP/NACE Level II are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AWS codes and ability to read complex design and fabrication plans.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat; familiarity with Lotus Notes is preferred.
• Competence with modern communication tools including cell phones, laptops and digital cameras.
