Certified Respiratory Therapist (Full-Time)

About the role

We are seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist to join our full-time clinical team at the University of Miami Health System. The role involves delivering comprehensive respiratory care to patients across a variety of acute and chronic settings.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct cardiopulmonary tests such as electrocardiograms, stress tests, and lung capacity measurements.
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and teach breathing exercises.
• Set up, operate, and maintain mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas delivery systems, environmental control units, and aerosol generators.
• Read physician prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and assess patient condition to determine therapy type, duration, and medication dosages.
• Explain treatment procedures, educate patients and families, and monitor physiological responses.
• Maintain accurate patient charts and ensure equipment is inspected, cleaned, and functioning safely.
• Follow university and unit policies, safeguarding assets and adhering to safety standards.

Required profile

• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential.
• Ability to interpret prescriptions and arterial blood gas results.
• Strong knowledge of cardiopulmonary testing and ventilator management.
• Excellent patient communication and education skills.
• Commitment to compliance with institutional policies.
