Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (Per Diem)

About the role

The University of Miami is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) on a per‑diem basis to provide anesthesia services for medical and surgical procedures. The role involves collaborating with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑ and post‑anesthesia patient visits and document anesthesia notes.
• Review medical histories and determine appropriate anesthesia methods.
• Administer local, intravenous, spinal, or other anesthetics following prescribed protocols.
• Monitor patient vital signs, airway, and pulmonary status throughout procedures.
• Manage airway interventions such as endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation.
• Respond to emergencies with airway management, fluid/drug administration, and advanced life support.
• Oversee patient recovery and address immediate post‑operative needs.
• Develop and follow anesthesia care plans while adhering to university policies.

Required profile

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant clinical experience.
• Valid State of Florida APRN license.
• Applicable certification requirements as defined by the department.
• Ability to learn new procedures and adapt to changing priorities.
