Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

About the role

AdventHealth Altamonte Springs is hiring a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) for a full-time day shift working Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm. The OTA implements treatment plans set by the occupational therapist, carries out age-appropriate assessments and interventions, and supports patient and family education.

Key responsibilities

• Implement treatment plans established by the occupational therapist, considering practice standards, insurance guidelines and patient needs.
• Use appropriate therapy procedures, document data and follow individualized care plans.
• Provide patient and family education, including home exercise programs for discharge.
• Support consumer marketing and public awareness through community events and educational lectures.
• Conduct age-appropriate assessments and interventions, completing annual age-specific competencies.
• Act as clinical instructor and mentor to students and new staff.
• Review occupational therapy and rehab policies and recommend updates.
• Document interventions and patient progress accurately and on time, using measurable, objective terminology.
• Maintain productivity standards and adjust work hours to patient needs.
• Ensure patient safety, including infection control, equipment training and safety programs.
• Take part in performance improvement initiatives and educational events.

Required profile

• Associate degree in occupational therapy assistant (required).
• Occupational Therapy Assistant certification (required).
• Basic Life Support / CPR certification (required).
• National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy preferred.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Windows and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Ability to read, write and speak conversational English.
• Effective written, verbal and electronic communication.

Pay range: $21.77 - $40.48. Florida Level 2 background screening applies to certain positions.
