Certified Nursing Assistant - PRN

About the role

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) works on an as‑needed (PRN) basis to support patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse at the University of Miami. The role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, collecting basic health data, and supporting clinical staff during procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene care, including bedpans, showers, and grooming.
• Assist with meals, feeding, ambulation, turning, and positioning of patients.
• Administer non‑sterile dressings, enemas, therapeutic baths, and apply restraints when required.
• Collect specimens, perform urine testing, and conduct post‑mortem care.
• Respond promptly to call lights and patient requests.
• Record vital signs, intake/output, and report patient conditions to the assigned nurse.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and transport patients or equipment as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of relevant CNA experience.
• Valid State of Florida CNA license.
• Ability to learn new procedures and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Required skills

• Basic computer applications (office software).
