Certified Nursing Assistant – Direct Support Professional

About the role

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will work as a Direct Support Professional providing personal care and community support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in LaGrange, GA. This position is part of the Georgia State Government’s effort to improve the lives of its citizens by enabling clients to achieve maximum independence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care and supervision to individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities in residential, facility‑based, or community settings.
• Assist with the development and implementation of individualized service/treatment plans.
• Teach basic life skills such as cooking, shopping, and personal hygiene.
• Observe, monitor, and document client behavior, incidents, and daily progress.
• Arrange and support access to medical care and ongoing treatments.
• Monitor food intake, functional status, psychosocial wellbeing, and wellness activities.
• Facilitate transportation for individual or group community outings.
• Respond immediately to crises following protocol and basic CPR/first aid training.
• Perform housekeeping duties, including cleaning, laundry, and errands.

Required profile

• Ability to provide personal care and supervision to individuals with disabilities.
• Willingness to teach and reinforce basic life and social skills.
• Capability to observe, document, and report client conditions accurately.
• Readiness to act in emergency situations and follow established protocols.
