Certified Medication Aide (CMA) – Full-Time

About the role

Thrive Now Recovery Centers, in partnership with Ascension Recovery Services, seeks a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to support clients in a residential and detox setting. Working under a licensed nurse, you will administer oral, topical and non‑parenteral medications while ensuring safety and compassion.

Key responsibilities

• Administer medications as delegated, following Iowa Board of Nursing and Pharmacy regulations.
• Document all medication administration accurately in the EMR and report any errors immediately.
• Observe client responses, noting adverse reactions and informing the supervising nurse.
• Assist with medication counts, secure storage, and chain‑of‑custody procedures.
• Support nursing staff with vital signs, patient monitoring, and basic care tasks.
• Promote a therapeutic environment aligned with the company Code of Ethics and Joint Commission standards.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current Certified Medication Aide credential recognized by Iowa DIAL.
• Completion of an approved CMA training program and competency testing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Background check and drug screen clearance.
