Certified Medical Assistant – Per Diem

About the role

The Department of Medicine, Division of Clinical Pharmacology at the University of Miami Health System is seeking a per‑diem Certified Medical Assistant to support patient care on the UHealth campus. The role involves assisting physicians with examinations, collecting specimens, and performing basic clinical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain patient histories, measure vital signs, and record information on charts.
• Perform venipuncture, collect blood and urine specimens, and prepare samples for laboratory analysis.
• Administer injections, treatments, and routine laboratory tests.
• Assist with patient care activities such as dressing changes, leg wraps, and ECG tracing.
• Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain a clean clinical environment.
• Schedule patients for tests, complete required laboratory forms, and manage patient documentation.
• Order, stock, and inventory supplies; perform clerical duties as needed.
• Escort and transport patients to various hospital locations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience.
• Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, or NRCMA).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Florida HIV/AIDS Healthcare Professional CE certification (or equivalent).
