Category Manager – Direct Precision Materials

About the role

Johnson & Johnson MedTech is seeking a Category Manager for Direct Precision Materials to lead sourcing and supplier strategies for metals, ceramics, precision plastics, packaging materials and chemicals. The role supports Abiomed’s manufacturing network and new product development in Danvers, MA.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute category sourcing strategies based on business needs, market intelligence and supplier evaluations.
• Lead sourcing initiatives, prepare and execute RFQs, negotiate contracts and drive cost‑management projects.
• Build and maintain a robust supply network, manage supplier performance and mitigate risk through strategic partnerships.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and represent procurement in end‑to‑end supply‑chain projects, including capacity programs and digital tool adoption.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of procurement experience, preferably in medical devices or related industries.
• BSc in Operations, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field; MSc preferred.
• Strong understanding of direct precision materials and the broader supply‑market landscape.
• Proven leadership, communication and influencing skills across regions.

Required skills

• SAP or other ERP procurement systems
• Six Sigma/Lean methodology (Black Belt preferred)
• Spend analysis and cost‑management techniques
• RFQ development and supplier negotiation
• Category and supplier management expertise
