About the role

The company Object Construction is seeking a qualified carpenter with a strong safety focus to work in the scenic industry. The role involves building, fabricating and installing a variety of structures and elements according to precise specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to ensure project requirements are met.
• Take accurate measurements and calculate material quantities to minimise waste.
• Cut, shape and finish wood and other materials using hand and power tools while adhering to safety guidelines.
• Construct panels, platforms, window frames, doors, stairs, furniture, cabinets and shelves and install them safely.
• Inspect, repair and maintain built pieces to guarantee longevity and safety.
• Erect scaffolding and other construction structures, working at height and following fall‑prevention protocols.
• Keep work areas and tools clean and organised to reduce accident risk.
• Pack, wrap, load and unload scenic elements and materials safely.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of carpentry experience, preferably in the scenic or stage industry.
• Physical ability to lift at least 50 lb regularly and work on knees, standing or in demanding positions for long periods.
• Commitment to strict safety standards, including use of personal protective equipment and knowledge of OSHA regulations.
• Preferably trained in first aid and emergency procedures.

Required skills

• Blueprint and technical drawing interpretation.
• Proficiency with hand tools (hammer, square) and power tools (saws, drills, sanders).
• Accurate measuring and material estimation.
• Scaffolding construction and safe work at height.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines.
