Plan Check Engineer

About the role

Join our dynamic team as a Plans Examiner where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of construction projects within our communities. As a meticulous and detail‑oriented professional, you will conduct thorough reviews of building and construction plans to verify compliance with relevant building codes, ordinances, and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Review construction plans, specifications, and calculations for compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and other applicable standards.
• Evaluate structural integrity, fire and life safety, accessibility, and energy efficiency of proposed designs.
• Assess mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to ensure functionality and code compliance.
• Communicate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to resolve deficiencies and provide technical guidance.
• Prepare detailed reports outlining findings, code violations, and recommended corrections.

Required profile

• Three years of experience in structural design, plan checking, or construction project management.
• Bachelor’s degree in structural engineering, civil engineering, architecture or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or licensed architect registration in California, or FE exam pass with EIT certification.
• Residential and Building Plans Examiner certification from the International Code Council.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software.
• Experience using Blue Beam Revu and other plan‑review tools.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning laws, and regulatory requirements.
