About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a Cardiac Surgery Advanced Practice Provider to join the Cardiothoracic team. The APP will work closely with cardiothoracic surgeons, providing first‑assistant support in the operating room and ensuring high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the first assistant to cardiothoracic surgeons during cardiac procedures.
• Respond to pages and provide on‑call coverage as required.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, obtain medical histories, and perform focused examinations.
• Identify health risks, formulate diagnoses, and develop treatment plans.
• Document and update patient health records accurately.

Required profile

• Advanced practice credential appropriate for cardiac surgery assistance.
• Demonstrated expertise in patient assessment, diagnosis, and clinical management.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary surgical team.
• Compliance with UAMS vaccination policy or approved exemption.
