Cardiac Surgeon (CW)

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking a qualified Cardiac Surgeon (CW) to join its cardiovascular team. This position involves performing both elective and emergency open‑heart procedures in a collaborative, patient‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform elective and emergency open‑heart surgeries on the heart and major vessels.
• Conduct Maze procedures, coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), and heart valve repair or replacement.
• Manage hypertrophic cardiomyopathy surgeries.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (3‑4 years of college).
• Medical degree (MD or DO) with four years of medical school.
• Either a five‑year general surgery residency plus 2‑3 years cardiothoracic surgery residency, or a six‑year integrated cardiothoracic surgery residency (ICTSR).
• Full COVID‑19 vaccination or approved exemption.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
