Capstone Clinical Nursing Instructor (Part-Time)

About the role

Chamberlain University is hiring a part-time Visiting Professor to teach its Capstone Final Clinical course, which helps students transition into professional nursing through experiential learning and culminates in a practicum focused on the delivery and management of nursing care within legal, ethical and evidence-based practice. The position is based in Tinley Park, IL, and offers a flexible schedule, mentorship and support programs.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the College's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes and course objectives through clinical teaching and service to the College, community, health system and profession.
• Plan clinical experiences and supervise and evaluate nursing students directly, making yourself available to staff at the clinical agencies.
• Evaluate and give documented feedback to students, and offer remediation when needed.
• Keep current on agency and clinical policies and procedures with the help of agency personnel.
• Develop and post written clinical assignments, and return homework, quizzes, tests, lab work and clinical paperwork in a timely way.
• Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and the College, and may teach didactic content under the course coordinator's supervision.
• Keep the course coordinator informed of student and agency issues, and work with administration and other faculty to improve operations and student satisfaction.
• Take part in the College Assessment Program, retention efforts and campus policies, and act as a professional role model.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Nursing (required).
• At least 2 years of recent nursing practice as a registered nurse within the last five years (required).
• Professional Nurse licensure in the state of Illinois (required).
• Excellent communication skills, initiative and prudent judgment.
