Campus Chemical Hygiene Officer

About the role

The University of Arkansas is seeking a Campus Chemical Hygiene Officer to join its Environmental Health and Safety team. This regular, full-time position supports the campus’s chemical safety program, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and promoting a safe laboratory environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining the campus chemical hygiene plan.
• Conduct inspections and audits of laboratories and other chemical use areas.
• Provide guidance on safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
• Support incident investigations and corrective actions related to chemical safety.
• Maintain records and documentation required by OSHA and university policies.

Required profile

• Current University of Arkansas System employee (including student employees and graduate assistants) eligible to apply through Workday.
• Interest in environmental health, safety, and chemical hygiene.
