Cafe Lead (Restaurant Supervisor) - Part-Time

About the role

The Cafe Lead is based at the American Girl Retail flagship location and reports directly to the Restaurant Manager. It is a part-time position responsible for assisting the restaurant manager with daily operations, giving leadership and direction to the department and delivering a high level of selling and customer service to guests. The role suits someone who wants to make decisions that affect both the team and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Help the restaurant leadership team oversee staffing, hiring, coaching and training, purchasing and vendor relations, inventories, and maintain food and beverage service, safety and sanitation standards.
• Help the team achieve department revenue and expense goals.
• Ensure customer satisfaction with the dining experience and oversee resolution of customer service issues.
• Keep food quality and consistency, handle special requests and special dietary needs, and cover tasks in the absence of the restaurant leadership team.
• Work with restaurant and store management to deliver events and programs, and keep staff and management informed.
• Troubleshoot operational issues, including kitchen equipment, the Zomato reservation system, POS, and InfoGenesis software.
• Lead by example in all areas of the business.

Required profile

• Restaurant experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, with front and back-of-house exposure, preferred.
• Experience working with children, preferred.
• Current State Sanitation Certification, ServSafe and Safe Alcohol Consumption certification, preferred.
• Ability to perform diverse physical tasks, including constant walking and standing, and some heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs).
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of the Eatec system, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), InfoGenesis/Universal Desktop, Zomato reservation systems, JTech paging system, POS systems, inventory systems and basic office equipment such as copiers and fax machines, preferred.
