C++ Software Developer

About the role

IPConfigure is seeking a strong C++ programmer to develop video streaming, web service, and data‑management back‑end components for its browser‑based surveillance video management systems. The position is based in Norfolk, VA and offers the chance to work with cutting‑edge IP video surveillance technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in an Agile development process alongside senior developers.
• Design and implement high‑quality C++ code for new features and system components.
• Collaborate on feature design, balancing business and technical requirements.
• Deliver code on schedule while adhering to design specifications.
• Investigate and resolve root causes of defects.
• Follow coding standards that promote reuse and standardization.
• Provide time and resource estimates for assigned features and identify risks with mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or related field (Master’s/Ph.D. a plus).
• Minimum two years of professional C++ development experience.

Required skills

• Expertise in C++11 or newer (C++14, C++17).
• Linux and/or Windows systems programming.
• Boost libraries.
• Object‑oriented design.
• Web service development (SOA, SOAP, REST).
• Unit testing and test‑driven development.
• Familiarity with streaming media frameworks such as GStreamer (optional).
• Network programming (TCP, UDP, Unicast, Multicast) (optional).
