Buyer

About the role

The Buyer is responsible for negotiating with vendors and managing the purchase of all materials, supplies, equipment, and services required by the company. This role ensures that procurement activities are cost‑effective, compliant with policies, and aligned with operational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate pricing, service guarantees, and terms with vendors for goods and services.
• Establish and enforce purchasing policies and compliance procedures.
• Identify and develop new supply sources when existing vendors are insufficient.
• Review bids, award contracts, and set up account/credit terms.
• Negotiate blanket purchase orders and monitor costs over the contract period.
• Validate requisitions for proper approvals and account numbers.
• Coordinate with the receiving department to confirm timely delivery of supplies.
• Track and resolve delayed or missing deliveries.
• Ensure adherence to environmental, safety, and U.S. legal regulations.
• Support new business proposals and maintain an effective stocking program.
• Develop and sustain strong vendor relationships and complete required internal training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Proven experience negotiating with vendors and managing procurement processes.
• Strong understanding of purchasing policies, bid evaluation, and contract management.
• Ability to develop alternative supply sources and maintain vendor relationships.
• Familiarity with environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Detail‑oriented with the ability to verify requisitions and monitor cost performance.
• Effective collaboration with receiving and other internal teams.
• Willingness to participate in internal training and adapt to evolving procurement needs.
