Buyer I – Procurement Specialist

About the role

The Buyer I supports CAE's Defense & Security contracts by sourcing vendors, negotiating prices, and issuing purchase orders for medium‑value, moderately complex items. This position works with both USG and non‑USG contracts, handling build‑to‑print assemblies and COTS software licenses.

Key responsibilities

• Research and identify potential vendors/suppliers.
• Negotiate price, delivery terms, and capability with internal customers.
• Create, administer, and maintain purchase orders in compliance with approved procedures.
• Maintain accurate purchase order documentation to satisfy Contractor Purchasing Systems Review (CPSR) requirements.
• Collaborate with Supplier Quality and Shipping/Receiving to resolve quality issues, order inconsistencies, and damaged products.
• Provide other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school diploma with 3‑5 years of procurement experience, or BA/BS in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Operations Management, or related field.
• Ability to negotiate medium‑value purchase orders with limited supervision.
• Strong analytical, time‑management, and interpersonal skills.
• Must comply with company security and data‑protection policies.
